Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American singer-actress and former model. Her most well-known role was co-starring in Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain and for having been the singer in the group of girls Apollonia 6. Apollonia was named an actress and female singer by Prince. In the '80s she was among several other performers who gained from Prince. Patricia Kotero, born 1959 in Santa Monica California began her career as an actress and model. The latter part of the 70s was when she appeared on CHiPS. The show's lead actress was of Prince's Purple Rain in 1984 (at which point he had changed his name). The same year, she was replaced by Vanity in the form of the group Vanity 6 and performed with their brand name Apollonia 6 in the film. She made more of an impression on the charts when she was Prince's partner in Take Me with You, a duet from his soundtrack. Kotero and Prince had a fallout over her future career. Apollonia6 split, Kotero did not remain in her relationship with Prince. She then appeared in a handful of minor movies during the 80s (reportedly not accepting an opportunity to play in the Purple Rain-follow-up Under the Cherry Moon), before settling on an evening-time part in the dramatic Falcon Crest in 1985-1986. Apollonia's debut album came out in 1988. But the R&B/dance tracks weren't well-received by the public who purchased music. The album soon vanished. In the years following, Apollonia continued to perform as an actress (if a little unnoticed), with minor TV roles, movies as well as an exercise video. In 1997 Apollonia recorded a bilingual album in Spanish and English called Stay With Me. The singer returned to the university where she received her diploma in filmmaking.
